Those Famous K-Beauty Routine Steps

The traditional K-beauty routine involves layering skincare across multiple steps. Each step plays a different role in cleansing, clarifying, toning and moisturizing skin to get to an optimal level of dewiness.

Here are the steps most commonly associated with a K-Beauty routine. Keep in mind that some of these steps are for your night routine (removing make-up) and some are for your day routine (adding sunscreen).

  1. First cleanse to remove make-up and impurities. This is especially important for the delicate eye area. Nuria's Micellar Water is a great option for this step. Oil cleansers are another popular choice for removing oil-based impurities.

  3. Exfoliator. You don’t need to and shouldn’t exfoliate every day. once or twice a week is sufficient. The goal is to ensure you are removing those dead skin layers for a smooth surface to better receive the moisture in the treatments that follow.   6. Treatments such as serums, ampoules, or oils. The purpose of the products in this step is to target specific skin issues you might be facing such as dryness or dullness. Think of it as a vitamin for your face, giving you a little extra nutrition where you need it most.
  7. Masks, such as hydrating face masks and eye masks. You don’t have to do this step every day. Once or twice a week is sufficient and a great form of self-care.
  8. Eye creams that are made specifically for that delicate eye area.
  9. Moisturizer. Seal it all in with a moisturizer or sleeping mask.
  10. Sunscreen. In the daytime, always use an SPF before going outside. 

The great news is that you can adjust the steps to match your skin needs and lifestyle. In a hurry? Then perhaps you can skip the serum step and just use an essence for the day. If your skin is feeling extra dehydrated, you can do a face mask and then follow with an eye mask to give it some extra love.
